"Odyssey of the Mind" is a competition, even though the atmosphere is always extremely fair and every participant is considered a winner. Kids and Students love to compete against each other. This motivates them to think about even better solutions. The best solutions and most creative ideas are determined by a judging team, both in the long-term and spontaneous parts of the competition. The judging team divides its tasks and awards scores in different scoring categories. Judges have to be at least 18 years old have to attend a training a few weeks before the Germany Finals. There are no other requirements. Judges may have all kinds of professional backgrounds. They may still be college or high school students, in their working life or retired.
